Ingredients for Ginger-Pear Crisp Recipe

1 c Rolled oats; uncooked
1/2 c All-purpose flour
1/4 c Firmly packed brown sugar
1/8 ts Ground cloves
1/2 c Butter or margarine; chilled
1/2 c Blanched almonds; coarsely
-chopped
3 tb Crystallized ginger; finely
-chopped
6 c Peeled pears; cored and
-sliced
Vanilla ice cream or whipped
-cream; optional

Ginger-Pear Crisp Preparation

Preheat oven to 400F. Butter an 8 square glass baking dish. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and cloves in medium bowl; mix well. Cut in btter with bastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in almonds and ginger. Arrange pears in prepared dish. Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over pears. Bake 30 min or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
