Ingredients for Cutout Christmas Cookies Recipe
2 c Sugar
1/2 c Butter
1/2 c Crisco; (solid vegetable
-shortening)
1 ts Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Baking soda
1 c Buttermilk
6 c Flour; (approx.)
Cutout Christmas Cookies Preparation
These are the Greatest Cut-out cookies. I received the recipe from a lady friend of mine, who received it from her grandmother. Now it originally called for ‘lard’ instead of Crisco, for those of you that don’t mind it. But the other 1/2 cup has to be butter. I use the frosting recipe from the powdered sugar box and just use food coloring as needed. Cream sugar, butter and Crisco. Add 2 eggs, mix well. Add remaining ingredients, mix well. Roll out dough, use cookie cutters. Bake at 325-350 degrees, about 8 to 10 minutes, but start checking at 6 minutes. Cool and decorate with icing.
